"Mature Blues" and "Young Country" at 106 West THIS Friday Night, April 25th at 8 p.m. !

First time on the 106 West stage playing their country and southern rock originals is the Daniel Blake Lee and the Moonshiners country southern rock trio.

Blake Lee on guitar and vocals (former member of Crashing Ashore), Jeremy Phillips on drums (formerly of Oblivion) and Zach Lee on bass have recently come together to show off Blake's originals. Come on out and hear these "boys from Bethlehem" and show your support for "young country" music at 106 West!!

The Blue Monkeys, headquartered in Winder have have been together a long time, with their present lineup performing steadily for about the last 3 years. Originally a casual, good-time Thusday night get-together and jam-band, their something-for-everybody style got them bookings at the local Moose Lodge, American Legion Hall, Community Center, more and more private parties, and shows at Fat Matt's Rib Shack, one of the premier blues venues in Atlanta.
And, now at the fabulous 106 West with the most amazing Sound in Town !!

The Blue Monkeys includes Kathy McDaniel, vocals and percussion, Jim "Spud" Wall, Drums and percussion, Mickey Thompson, vocals and rhythm guitar. "Microwave" Dave Herndon, lead guitar and vocals and Larry "Gee" Germain, bass and vocals.

Kathy McDaniel - Karaoke queen for years, raised on country music, her powerful voice and enthusiasm brought a new dimension and energy to the band. Her country-fried vocals translated perfectly to our blend of blues, R&B and classic Rock and Roll. And she shakes a mean tambourine!

A Founding Member, Spud provides the groove for us all. With inspiration as varied as Buddy Rich and Ringo, from the Beatles to Johnny Cash, we like to refer to him as our Master Beater.

Mickey Thompson, vocals and rhythm guitar. Sometimes referred to as "The Round Mound of GitDown," Mickey brings his wide-ranging tastes in rock, blues, old, new and alternative country, with a dash of funkiness, to the musical stew.

"Microwave" Dave Herndon, lead guitar and vocals. A long-time presence on the Athens musical scene and founding member of seminal blues bands The Casanovas and The Healers, Dave's first love is the Blues; yet,
no matter what direction the tunes in a set go, Dave nails the style and the feeling. As manager of the Music Exchange in Athens, and sound engineer for
Chip's Roadhouse, among many others, Dave has had the opportunity to meet and jam with dozens of nationally known musicians, and witnesses say he
holds his own with those high-profile professionals. His searing leads may melt the wax out of your ears!

Larry "Gee" Germain, bass and vocals. The Old Guy (self-described).Has been playing and singing since he was 12. A member of many Atlanta area classic rock, blues, funk and wedding bands, and an on-call "sub" for many area ensembles, Larry was introduced to the Fabyaluss Blue Monkeys in 2002, when he saw the church on the corner of Athens and Beulah streets being transformed into 106 West, and Tom and Becky suggested he talk to Mike Morgan (bless his Soul!), the guitar player who had an office across the street.
The rest is History, as they say!
