Come Learn and Play in the 106 West Guitar Orchestra !
It doesn’t matter if you’re an advanced player, intermediate, or beginner – you can benefit from two major skills: learning to read music, and playing your instrument in a group setting with others!
Come learn and play in the 106 West Guitar Chorus !!
What is the Guitar Orchestra ?
We'll get together to play our instruments just like people in a band or orchestra (or singers in a chorus) assemble to make beautiful harmonious music together. Parts will be written for advanced players and abject beginners and everyone in between. Once we know your skill level, you’ll receive parts customized to maximize your learning and show off your playing. Each session will be all about success and fun. Just like in a band, the easier parts will be played by the least experienced, who will be learning music reading, harmony, and rhythm as they play their parts -- which at first (and for everyone) will often be played on one or two strings!
When is the Guitar Orchestra ? Monday Nights from 6:00 to 7:30
The orchestra will meet together ten weeks a quarter.
We will not meet during holidays (including Monday Holidays) and will take other breaks as needed. A calendar will be provided prior to each ten week session.
How do I register ?
If you’re interested in participating in this musical and social event every Monday evening (except holidays) give us a call at 770 868-1977 or email us at anybody@106west.com and let’s get started! We need a minimum of eight players and a maximum of 60. Eventually, we’ll perform together for people other than us!
What do I bring ?
Bring your guitars, basses, mandolins, banjos, and ukuleles – acoustic only please – we won’t be mixing with electricity or using amplification – we’ll be an acoustic guitar orchestra!
Please bring your own music stand and music stand light -- or let us order them for you (Portable Music Stand and Battery-Saving LED Music Light - $49)!
What is the tuition?
Tuition is $145.00 a quarter which can be paid by check in advance or charged to your credit card monthly. If you are a currently enrolled private student age 14 and above, your additional tuition will be $50 a quarter. This will pay for the instructor (yours truly aka Thom Tollerson) and teaching assistants, sheet music, the facility, heating, cooling, and “free” coffee/hot choc/ cappuccino / etc.
Let us hear from you today and become a charter member of the Guitar Orchestra ! As soon as we have our minimum of eight met, we'll start the class !
